Charity Mumbi is an Urban and Regional Planner by background, with a Master of Science in Sustainable Urban Development. Charity is currently a Programmes officer, coordinating Research and planning work in Slum Dwellers International- Kenya. Her focal roles include: action-led research; community-led settlements planning; stakeholders’ engagement; partnerships building; settlements profiling; enumerations and mapping; concepts/ proposals writing; data analysis; providing technical ArcGIS skills; and designs. She has extensive experience in projects’ and teams’ management, critical thinking for problem solving, communication skills, and co-production with the local communities. She is an advocate of sustainable development, especially for the urban marginalized, to improve urban equity and promote the advancement of the dignity of the vulnerable communities. She has deep experience of working with the local communities, civil society organizations, academic institutions, multilateral and bilateral agencies, and with state actors; and has participated in a number of urban transformative projects, notably Mukuru Special Planning Area Urban Development Plan; Voices for Just Climate action; Safe and Inclusive cities project and African cities Research, among others. Her drive is to see positive transformations in the urban settings, increased resilience among the urban vulnerable communities and increased co- production for change between the urban communities and duty bearers.
