Lawrence Otieno

Federation national leader

Lawrence Otieno is a national federation leader of Muungano wa Wanavijiji from Kibera. He started engaging with Muungano wa Wanavijiji in 2019 during the Safe and Inclusive City project, which had a significant impact on keeping the community safe by involving young people in sessions focused on entrepreneurial skills and safety. He possesses expertise in creative and visual art, data collection through the Know Your City data team, community organizing, and facilitating dialogues. Lawrence is self-driven and values teamwork as it strengthens relationships with community members. He has participated in the Safe and Inclusive City project as a facilitator, voiced for just climate action, and promoted peace initiatives during elections in Kenya. His goals are to see youthful transformation through providing spaces for expressing ideas and creativity, ensuring a community with quality and affordable housing, and promoting gender equality in resource distribution.
