As at 12 April. Kenya has 197 confirmed cases and 8 deaths from the novel coronavirus (source: Ministry of Health).
Over the last two weeks, Muungano members have been involved in a wide range of activities in their settlements, aiming to prepare Kenya’s slums and their residents for the rapidly approaching Covid 19 pandemic.
This photoblog captures a some of the work going on — we hope to provide regular updates as the situation unfolds.
Behind the scenes, Muungano leaders and support professionals are also busy. Some of the things they are doing are: collecting data monitoring the situation in Nairobi, Kisumu and Nakuru; using Muungano’s settlement profiles to help identify locations for isolation centres in settlements; and working with other agencies including the Ministry of Health, Nairobi County, UN Habitat, SDI federations and global secretariat, Plan International and Concern — among many others.
