8–9 June 2020: coronavirus situation tracker for Kenyan informal settlements
Topline summary:
Three Nairobi settlements reporting cases: Korogocho (11%), Kwa Njenga (5%) and Mathare (20%) - numbers slightly lower from last report for Korogocho and Mathare, but Kwa Njenga rose from 0% last report. — Equally though, these are the only three settlements that reported testing.
No deaths reported — this is the first time since reporting began that no deaths have been reported two reports in a row
Simple aggregated 'What is being done' index numbers staying fairly similar: all settlements in the 20-30%s range, except high outlier with Obunga (44%) and low outlier Naivasha (12%).
Isolation centres remain quite low in all settlements, but there have been small increases from 0 in Nyalenda (3%), Kibera (9%), Korogocho (2%), Mathare (2%) - whereas Manyatta dropped from 16% to 0%, Viwandani and Naivasha stayed same around 10%, and all others remained at 0.

The information in this report was collected by Muungano wa Wanavijiji from residents of informal settlements in the Counties of Nairobi, Kisumu and Nakuru. We are aiming to collect information and report on it every 2-3 days throughout the crisis.
The data presented in this report captures the situation of the coronavirus pandemic in urban Kenya. It presents the picture on the 2-3 days before the report’s date. Information was collected by Muungano wa Wanavijiji and SDI Kenya from community mobilizers living in informal settlements in the counties listed. Mobilizers were asked to interview 5 people in their village and provide their responses using an online survey. Mobilizers were compensated for the cost of their phone data used.
